You know you should be blogging more. But who has the time, right? If you’re like me, you’ve mumbled the words, “If there were only more time.”
But what if you did have more time? Would you actually take advantage of it? Or would it just be squandered on incidental diddling?
Let’s be truthful. More time isn’t the answer.
Time is really a factor of discipline isn’t it?
You’ll never get any more time. But are there ways to create it?
For me it starts by picking a schedule and sticking to it. It could be once a month. Once a week. Whatever it takes to get started. My current goal is to post here at least twice a week.
By choosing this schedule the ball gets rolling. The momentum builds and that momentum pulls you forward.
Then you can look for ways to speed things up…
Save time by doing double-duty
If you answer an email, post a blog comment or even have a conversation with someone on the phone. Take that material add a bit of structure and turn it into a blog post. In fact, this post started as a blog comment.
The thing to remember is posts don’t need to be perfect (yes, this slows me up more than anything.) Nor do they have to be super long. Between 300 and 600 words is enough to get your message across.
Someone has to take their time to read your post
By sticking to one topic per post and keeping the posts pithy, it’s easier to discuss and develop new ideas and strategies. It also allows readers more time to read your post.
Don’t let lack of time stop you
Blogging is a great way to share and refine your ideas, make connections and open up new opportunities. So don’t let the lack of time be and easy out.
Pick your schedule
Just get started. Let’s help each other create more time. =)
