Where does #DailyOS come from?
The OS, or Oblique Strategies, where created by English musician, Brian Eno and British Painter, Peter Schmidt. They developed a deck of cards with each card having a random insight meant to offer a solution to a dilemma.
Here’s an example of #DailyOS in action:
Let’s say I want to write an article. Maybe something about ‘branding.’ Somewhere along the line I get a bit stuck as to where to begin. So I turn to the #DailyOS.
The insight in the #DailyOS reads, “Make a blank valuable by putting it in an exquisite frame”
Now this my not look necessarily helpful. But in fact it gets me thinking. If I look at branding from this perspective, I actually see a correlation.
A brand is the gut feeling someone has when they come in contact with your company. It’s your job to to put those qualities on display, in a frame, so your audience knows what your company, or brand is all about.
That’s a great starting point for my article. Yay! I’m unstuck.
Now how can YOU get unstuck?
When you find yourself with that stuck feeling, consult the #DailyOS. You can even save the search on your Twitter for easy reference.
And if you have any insights of your own please feel free to share them with the rest of the community by using the #DailyOS hashtag.
What are some of the ways you get yourself out of a creative funk?

Dave,
Great concept here – glad to know it came from one of my fav’s = Brian Eno.
As a blogger, I too often find myself stuck – it may even be in mid sentence.
This helps. Definitely!

Thanks Frank. Gotta love the Eno. =)
Definitely a cool way to give yourself a jolt.
Be sure to add to the hashtag.
