You know what I really love about email marketing?
It’s that you can start where you are and then advance and make progress as you need to, as you grow your business.
Typically, you’ll go through these three stages.
Beginner
When you first start, you’re collecting email addresses and sending, hopefully, on a regular basis to your entire list of people.
Maybe you’re sending a newsletter or some individual emails when you have something going on.
At this stage it’s all about creating a strong foundation you can build on later.
You’re establishing your best practices.
And you’re starting to see results.
But how can you get even better results?
That’s where you move into the next stage.
Intermediate
At this stage, it’s all about how you can get more relevant information to the right people. And, sorry about the cliche, at the right time.
That means breaking the big list into smaller lists based on similar traits.
Things like demographic info like age, income, marital status. Geographic information like zip code, city, state. And my favorite, behaviors and actions. Things like opens, clicks, purchases.
Then you’ll want to add a layer of light automation.
Start simple with things like birthday and anniversary emails.
A welcome email when someone joins your list.
And an automated series of emails designed to get specific people to take a specific action.
Here you start to get more precise with your messaging and start to see even better results because of it.
But you’re not done yet.
Advanced
At this advanced stage you start to dig into the data to make optimizations that drive the best results.
Here you can tap into the tools available like artificial intelligence and predictive analytics, and then add automation to that.
Now you’re using email marketing to uncover sales and opportunities that you never would’ve realized before.
And this is why email marketing is still so exciting today.
Where are you at in this journey?
Wherever it is, stick around.
I’ll help you make progress from wherever you’re at.
