Using a YouTube video would be a great way to promote your next show, right?
After all, one of the benefits of new media marketing comes from the ability to easily put together this type of promotional material.
But as you’ll soon find out there are lots of hurdles to overcome before you can actually start using a YouTube video.
First, you have to worry about creating something that’s acceptable to Actors’ Equity. And don’t forget compelling enough to make people want to see your show. Oh, and people actually have to see the YouTube video first.
So where do you begin with using a YouTube video?
Listen in as I speak with Executive Producer–Sean Williams of Gideon Productions in NYC. Sean discusses how they created a promotional YouTube video trailer for their NY International Fringe Festival production of, VIRAL, by Playwright–Mac Rogers.
But don’t think it went without a hitch. They actually have two trailers. One is…um, not good.
Luckily, they figured out a few things out and now have a 2nd trailer they’re extremely proud of. And it’s been getting some circulation on different social networks.
