There’s one thing you must absolutely recognize about how people use the internet.
If you fail to recognize this one thing you’ll find it takes you much longer to succeed.
In Lesson #6 of my free New Media Marketing e-Course, I talk about this idea of the Crazy Taxi Ride.
It’s something that seems so insignificant and yet can have a huge impact on whether or not people trust you.

People always ask how I shoot these videos. I use the Flip Mino HD Camcorder, 60 minutes – Amazon Affiliate link. There’s a newer version available also. I also use the Pocket xShot to hold the camera.

Boy do I recognise this one – T-Mobile website is a case in point!
Dave Charest says
No good over there eh? I remember the Verizon site being a real treat.

Great analogy with the taxi cab. Nothing frustrates me more than clicking a link that leads to a place that has NOTHING to do with what I thought I was clicking.
Love the walks my friend!
Dave Charest says
Thanks Frank. It’s funny how annoying it can be. And how much it really does hurt.

I agree 100% – get it right the first time and get to the source – GD-it!
So are you walking in Queens or Brooklyn? (I lived in both places and yes this time of year, way back when, it was as cold as you look or must feel in that weather!)
I really enjoy what you are sharing!
Cheers!
Susan

Thanks Susan. Walking in Brooklyn here. Although I’m in Queens now. =)
Last Friday it was like 70 degrees outside. This morning snow. It’s like weather roulette!

Thanks, Dave, for this reminder. It’s actually amazing how often we (who write blogs and work on websites) that people are there in a task-based way. Good stuff.

Dave, this really works (you walking with the camera). I think it’s great marketing too. Not only do you get some exercise, but the video automatically becomes unboring because of the ever changing background.
Do you have a link on how you hook up your camera, or would you mind explaining how you do it?
I think I would even carry a white board and draw as I make my different points.
Just brilliant Dave, thank you!
Dave Charest says
Thanks, Mike. The links your looking for are in the alert box at the bottom of this post.

Hey Dave!!
I just discovered these Walks with Dave–I love them! That is such a neat idea. I love that I almost feel like I am walking with you down the street having a conversation.
I love your analogy to taxi rides-its frustrating and annoying to be lead to a dead end link, or a link thats nothing like you thought it was. I will definitely keep this in mind.
Thanks for your great posts and all of your hard work! I look forward to reading watching more.
